It certainly has some drawbacks. But throwing it out
for XML is a solution
in search of a problem :)
I think different. XML is simple, self-explaining. wiki-syntax is
cryptic and by no mean ''plain text''. Many a lot ASCII characters are
special, they are overloaded with markup resp. layout side effects. We
are wasting much time with getting these side effects right.
