WWW stands for World Wide Web - three *english* words.
If other languages wish to replace there language codes with the equivalent
abbreviation in their own language, I'm sure no-one will mind.
(lwm.wikipedia.org for "le web mondial", peut-être?)

Until then, its fair for the *English* abbreviation to point to 
*English* wiki, n'est-ce pas?
