<div>hello,</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Here is the project proposal post made to Foundation-I mail-list for starting a wiki to monitor the government spending. I guess here in India, we must be more that convinced that a sustained, widely accessible and comprehensive continuous tracking of Gov spending is key. If our ex-Prime Minister is to be believed, out of every 1 rupee of public money spent, only 15 paise reach the intended destination. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>This effort is supposed to bring clarity about the allocations and actual delivery to bring forth the requisite citizen's pressure on the govt for greater accountability. This is a massive undertaking, no single person / org can do it. As initial check suggests, there are many sources of information, we need to act as a central publicly accessable and easy to use / modify repository for existing info and then start filling the information gaps.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Project Proposal has been made @ <a href="http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/GovSpendWatchWiki" target="_blank">http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/GovSpendWatchWiki</a><br></div>
<div>Initial site can be set up on one of the wiki-farms, like Wikia. Requesting your feedback.</div>
<div>I will also try to attend today's Wikipedia:Meetup in Bangalore, hopefully to meet with some of you there.</div>

<br><br>This would surely be interesting to a lot of people. But Wikimedia itself is<br>not a political body, so projects like this may not be seen as appropriate<br>for here.<br><br>A lot of projects with wide interest are hosted on wiki farms though.<br>
<br>There are many wiki farms and other bodies and many groups use wikis for the<br>kind of proposal you have. Perhaps set up a wiki on a wiki<br>farm<<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki_farm" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki_farm</a>><br>
