[Wikimania-l] Who invented Wikimania?

Hi, all,

Nowadays, I am thinking about the content of the official website. I think
it will be good to have a "History of Wikimania" page on the website, to
give some idea to those who are new to Wikimania or Wikimedia community.

Just like the "2006 Doha Asian Games" website, there's a page of the game
footsteps year by year on it. Please see:

I couldn't find anything about who invented this event. There was not any
record on who invented, how they thought, why this event held....... Does
anybody know it?
