You can use xvidcap to record the running SWF under linux. The convert
the result to Theora. ... I dont think the image quality of these
SWF's are great to begin with, but the result seems okay:

AIUI, there is no such thing as an SWF video format, and the SWF is just a container to
allow portability and some play control buttons. Use some kind of SWF decompiler, and
the video inside will be in something easy enough to convert.
