As far as I'm aware, it's the most commonly used name of the country
in the UK.  The BBC uses it, Sky News, the Guardian, the Times, it's
used in common speech and in local newspapers.  You may want to argue
that the French name is also common, and you may even find evidence to
support your claim, but it really won't do to say that the name Ivory
Coast is not widely known and used.
