Mate, let's get two things straight:

(1) Fred himself started throwing the mud around.

(2) The evidence of the edit history is clear and entirely unambiguous.
Dishonesty is dishonesty.

Casting this as "the attacks on Fred" is (a) unhelpful, and (b) a wild
distortion of the course of events.

It was *Fred* who launched into a personal attack on a number of
decent, hardworking contributors. I have not troubled to respond to his
attempt to smear me as a Holocaust denier (as some others that he
attacked at the same time have done), but you may rest assured that
they speak for me in this. It was entirely uncalled for.

However, that is not the point here. Fred can call me whatever he
likes, I don't think that anyone takes those sort of offensive ravings
too seriously anyway.

The *real* point is that Fred is asking that we apply a standard of
behaviour to Abe that he is entirely unwilling to apply to himself. We
have *still* not seen an apology from Fred for his repeated marking of
very major changes as "minor" in the "Communist state" entry, despite
the fact that he was asked several times to desist, and despite the
fact that he himself admitted on this list that it is a serious
offence. Nor has Fred given us an undertaking that he will not repeat
the offence in the future.

I would have much preferred to simply let this sleeping dog lie, in the
hope that Fred had perhaps learned to moderate his behaviour.
Unfortunately, Fred has taken it on himself to launch a series of
unwarranted personal attacks on perfectly decent 'pedia contributors.
This is unacceptable.
