Hi,

Yuvi just merged https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/257808 and asked me to send
an email about it here.

If you have admin access on deployment-prep (the beta cluster), you can now
add your key to the list as in
https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hiera:Deployment-prep&diff=222055&oldid=221373
to have it authorised to log in as root on all deployment-prep instances.
This should take effect as soon as puppet next completes on the instance
you want to connect to, and is occasionally useful in cases of labs DNS,
LDAP, etc. outages.
Previously we had to log into deployment-puppetmaster to do this, which can
also be broken, and it involved making uncommitted changes to the live
files from labs/private.git.

Obviously, you should usually try connecting under your own account before
resorting to root - please don't make a habit of using this for everything.

Alex
