Dear Chris,
now I see. Thanks!
So I need to know to get rid of the cookie that redirect to https when I travel to China.
It is all clear.

I think something wrong with this.
In China, I experienced to be redirected to https without seeing
Main_Page. So I
had no opportunity to login. I suppose casual users in
China would have no chance to see the front page and will not know http is
available. They will think Wikipedia is totally blocked by the great
firewall.
It would gave been hard to tell, but we're you logged in already on your
laptop when you connected? If you had logged in while in Korea, then
traveled to China, I can see how you would have experienced this. But we
never redirect to https for logged out users.
Also, can you confirm you're not using httpseverywhere?
I feel we need to fix something for users in China regarding https.
