Yesterday evening, Med did a routine restart of squid on chloe and squid
wouldn't restart. It turned out DNS wasn't working. Actually, DNS wasn't
working on all 3 Paris machines.
1) DNS input was firewalled, apparently
2) DNS servers were set to servers in Florida, through ppp tunnel
(didn't work)
So I temporarily set up the machine to:
1) not firewall stuff
2) Used lost-oasis DNS servers

Warning: gmmktime() [function.gmmktime]: Windows does not support negative

Hi
Three times now in about a week or so, some spanish editors reported me a weird bug, that makes them see the wrong date on some pages or on recent changes. See the last comment http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Anthere&curid=521&dif…
I know there was a bug a while ago about this, but as far as I understood, it was fixed.
Still... there is still something going on and people still regularly see a wrong date.
A couple of personal observations...
... I also noticed in the past few days a huge issue with cache.
Three times yesterday, when I edited meta, for a new page, after I saved the page, there was nothing on it, and I had to reload to see the new page.
That also happened to me on the Foundation website yesterday, when I tried to create a redirection from "board" to "board of Trustees". After saving, the page was empty.
Weirder is what is currently happening on the village pump on the french wikipedia (though part of it might be due to Paris servers).
I connected anonymously yesterday, and I got the 14th of may page. I reload several times, forced reload... and still got the 14th of may.
I ended up login, I still had the 14th of may, but after one simple reload, I finally got the 17th.
I *think* there is a problem here. I do not know what it is, but if I have the idea to reload and reload and login and reload again to finally get the right page, I do not think readers or recent editors think of doing this. Any ideas ?
Anthere (looking for the future, not so much on the past)

Just my 0.02$, you don't need the User:javascript
functionality to run your own javascript on site.
Trying to do any development here would be waste of time.

Is it possible to edit the main page? if so - how?
I ask this, as the width of the page displayed is far too big, and also, it
wants to include stuff from today on the page - but cant display it as it
doesnt exist;
Today's featured article
{{Wikipedia:Today's featured article/May 24, 2005}}
Selected anniversaries
{{Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/May_24}}
And also - the news gets out of date very quickly

The software _does_ have the ability to use an active open proxy
scanner: BOPM
<http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=U&start=8&q=http://blitzed.org/bopm/&e=10313>,
I think. This is currently switched off, since it generated many
complaints from less-than-clueful people who had "personal firewall"
software and interpreted its checks as "hacking" attempts.
However, if this active scanner was to be enabled on li: alone, I would
imagine that the amount of complaints would be negligible.
Perhaps this might help the li: administrators?

Is it possible to make some general IP list of spammers which can be
shared through all (Media)Wiki sites? I am not talking about vandals,
problematic users, etc; just about spam. This should be the similar
method as it is implemented for email.
Hi,
I download successfully mysql database on
http://download.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/
But I can't find the place to download images.
Where can I found it ?
Thanks
Ben
