Actually, I didn't see a final decision until this page, but now that it is
"official", I deactivated subpages on the PHP wikipedia altogether. Larry,
time for a celebration! :)
So when subpages disappear, whats going to happen to
all the subpages with
worthwhile content on?
The ''pages'' and their contents will stay, of course. Just the linking
is
altered. What happens is:
* One day, not so far away, a script will convert the UseMod wiki pages into
MySQL. All [[/Bar]] links on a Foo page will automatically be converted into
[[Foo/Bar]]. That was already done on the tarball you can see at
http://wikipedia.sourceforge.net/fpw/wiki.phtml (compare World War II,
[[/Battle of Britain]] became [[World War II/Battle of Britain]]).
* Plain-text links like /Bar will ''not'' work anymore. No subpages, no
link
on /.
* [[/Bar]] will ''not'' work anymore. It leads to a page with an error
message.
You can try it out on the page above, it's all working.

I just saw the other post with [[algebra]]ic. I could easily make it a rule
that ''upon pressing the Save button'' on the edit page, all
"[[foobar]]xyz"
occurrences would become "[[foobar|foobarxyz]]". That would include
"]]ic",
"]]s", "]]es", etc. Opinions?
