propose that this work?
Try on this example: 'work' and 'working'.
Currently:
[[work]] shows _work_ (underlined, see?) and links to [[work]].
[[work|working]] shows _working_, and links to [[work]]
[[work]]ing shows _work_ing and links to [[work]]
Your objection seems to be that #2 is more commonly what we want, but
more typing, and #3 is easier, but not often wanted.
