Hoi,
The obvious answer is, translate the copyright notice .. As there are only 25 messages they are all in your face; highly visible. The next thing is creating a Tamil "mobile main page".

What you will appreciate is that making the mobile mainpage actually work is functional rendering and font support. This is a big problem. Given the total number of people who speak Indian languages, given the importance given by the Wikimedia Foundation to India we can make this a rallying point in the press, the social media.

To make WMF, the telephone companies, the telephone manufacturers walk the walk, we have to clearly demonstrate the importance we give to being able to use Wikipedia on the mobile phone. I am grateful that my lobbying is getting the attention that it does, with a few more languages we are ready to consider a campaign on facebook and other social media.

In the end it is only a success when it is your success, your campaign, your effort.
Thanks,

Gerard,

I finally bit the bait thanks to your consistent lobbying. :) Translated all but the copyright notice for Tamil.
Will ask fellow Wikipedians to review. What next?

Sundar

Subject: [Wikimediaindia-l] Marathi is now also done

Hoi,
The localisation for the Marathi language is now also complete ...

Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu and Urdu are now complete as far as the localisation is concerned. A mobile main page has been designed for Bengali and Malayalam. I have been tweeting when a new language has completed all 25 messages. A lot of blogging is going on about mobile Wikipedia at http://ultimategerardm.blogspot.com/search/label/mobile .

And finally, a good place to start localising is http://translatewiki.net/wiki/Translating:Wikimedia_mobile

I thank Harish for completing both the Hindi and the Marathi localisations. I find the results of the drive towards better support for mobile Wikipedia really inspiring..
Thanks,
