What: Wiki Loves ALA Editathon

Where: 5th Floor Lounge
Why: Show others how to edit Wikipedia, especially attendees at the ALA Annual Conference at Moscone Center
The American Library Association conference brings 20-30 thousand librarians, publishers, and reference experts to San Francisco this June. We want to welcome them to the city and celebrate our shared missions of sharing knowledge with an editathon at WMF's office.
The event will starts at 1:00pm June 26th. We will have a WMF Staff Member with the guard between 12:30-1:30 and from 5:00-5:30 after the event ends. We will be giving guests a set time of entrance to avoid disruption of services for the lobby attendant, front desk folks, and organizers.
An Eventbrite has been setup to collect first and last names of participants and will be used to cross reference with ID's. (Those without ID will not be let in.)

We estimate that 50-60 participants will attend the event. The cap for the event is 90.
The Editathon will take place in the 5th floor lounge area. WMF workstations on the north side of the floor will be blocked off, and no ediathon participants will enter that area.
Staff are welcome, to come and participate, help out, or just poke their heads in and say hello. If you would like to officially join the editathon as a 'wiki expert', please register in the EventBrite so we can keep a head count. Also feel free to share this invitation with SF-area staff, or volunteer editors.

There will be an introductory 1-screen presentation with a 30 minute tutorial on Editing Wikipedia. Participants will be working in groups after tutorial and for the rest of the event, without any A/V, so noise is expected to be minimal.
Participants will work on one of 4 subject tracks of their choosing:
* Writing about the history and collections of their institution or organization
* Writing about San Francisco's women writers, artists, and scientists
* Writing about LGBT history
* Writing about a topic of their choice
There will be lots of coffee and water at the event, as well as some light catered snacks.
We're excited about this neat opportunity to join forces with the library world. We're looking forward to a successful, fun event, and hope to see some of you there.
