On behalf of the Supervisory Board of Wikimedia
Deutschland I
would like to thank Pavel for his very good work and for both the
professionalism and passion with which he has shaped the development of
Wikimedia Deutschland.
Nikolas, thanks for passing on the news.
I'm saddened by this development. Pavel has been a great colleague in
the movement these last five years. Needless to say, we've worked
together most closely on technical projects. I want to especially
point out that without Wikimedia Germany's leadership, the Wikidata
project would not exist today, and it's become a model for what
technical leadership by chapters can look like. I also want to thank
Wikimedia Germany for supporting the transition from Toolserver to
Wikimedia Labs.
On the non-technical side, I've been impressed when visiting the
chapter with the passion and commitment of everyone involved, and with
the many projects that are underway in support of free knowledge. I
hope that this transition will support our shared goals in the long
run, and I look forward to hearing more about the Board's new
strategy.
Thanks to Pavel for all his accomplishments and for his hard work as ED.
Warmly,
Erik
