Yes I manually went through the contribs of all the editors and checked out the diff between every edit made on the page during the entire month.

Yes, Karthik's contributions were significant as it helped in removing the refimprove tag. And that's the reason why I chose to give him the "Citation Barnstar", different from the "Teamwork Barnstar" which we give out regularly.

Hisham came up with minor edits but those were important as well and that's the way he has been working on past COTM's.

I see your point and next time, I'll be awarding the barnstars only on the basis of the contributions. Wikiloves will go for the minor edits.

The most important measure of success in a community mobilisation effort like this is how many editors participated in the COTM for that month, and how can we we encourage more  to join in.  Pratik: Is there a way we can measure this?  I know it's additional effort - but can we look at total editors on an article in the month before the article became COTM and the number during the COTM month?  Of course it doesn't take into account a host of other variables (such as if the article suddenly becomes topical, how many of the editors are members of WP:INDIA, etc.) but there's no need to overanalyse it.  Just a set of 2 comparison points would be good.
