The world has lots of volcanic eruptions every year, very very few create the sort of ash clouds that resulted in flying restrictions on that scale.

The Colima volcano does not represent any risk for Mexico City due is located more than 700 kilometer. Indeed for the big cities close to the state where the volcano is located, there is no flight alert issued so far. Maybe if someone in the community have planned visit Jalisco or Colima cities will need to be pending of the news.
