Craig,

On behalf of the Buenos Aires bidding team I would like to thank you for your message, and for being a good and fair player during the selection process (as all bidders have been).

We have been closely following the creation of Wikimedia Australia we would be happy if Australia is selected as the location for Wikimania 2010.

Hi Patricio and Others,

On behalf of the Brisbane bid team, I would like to congratulate you and the
Buenos Aires team on the success of your bid.  While we are of course
disappointed at not getting it ourselves, I am very confident that you will
be able to put on a fine convention that will do the Wikimania name proud!

Best Wishes,

Craig Franklin

Dear members of the Jury, companions from the Toronto, Brisbane and
Kalsruhe bid and every person involved in Wikimanía:

First of all, I have to express on behalf of Wikimedia Argentina our
deep gratitude for the election of Buenos Aires as host for Wikimanía
2009. Like the other bidding teams, we have been working hard during
the last months to provide a solid proposal. Every aspect in our bid
was extensively developed and, as the representatives of the Jury
recognized in the recent press release, a strong and organized team
gave most of it to satisfy the requirements. Again we thank you for
considering our work and choosing the "Paris of the South" as it is
called Buenos Aires.

We are sure that Wikimanía 2009 will be a great edicion. Talks are
going on with private sponsors, official entities, cultural
institutions. But we know that the real work starts now. Fortunately,
we have more than a year to do it. And to do it well, as Wikimanía
deserves. The organizing committee inside Wikimedia Argentina has just
been formed and has a neat division of labour between the different
areas to cover: accomodation, venue, sponsorship, party, etc.

Buenos Aires is, as we mentioned, a vibrant city. Culture lives
everywhere, as tourists often remark. Architecture, literature,
arts... a large Wikimedian community! Party opportunities also live
everywhere, for those interested, as the city is renowned for its
nightlife. Openness is guaranteed in al senses possible. You will know
Buenos Aires and its edition of Wikimanía. I'm sure you will not be
disappointed.

Yours sincerely,

Patricio Lorente
Presidente
Wikimedia Argentina
