Can the organizing team check what they can do about it?
If this is the situation today when only about 1\3 of the conference
attends are here, things will be much worse in the next few days...
Thanks, and i'm sure it's gonna be a great Wikimania!

Hi, everyone.
The WCA sessions are taking place in room *PQ304, *not P304. PQ rooms are
accessible from the P building. Floor "3" in the elevator. Follow signage
to PQ lecture rooms.
(also: you're all late. :-p)

Hi, I'm arriving on Friday 9th August, at 21:20, a flight QR816 coming from Doha (Qatar), Qatar Airways. Is someone is there at that time, let me know via e-mail so we can arrange how to get to the venue and/or the dorms. Thanks.Regards, Jose Gustavo Gongora
Hello Wikimaniacs,
I hope everyone is getting excited about Wikimania!
This year for the first time I'm hosting a "presentation clinic", the
day before the conference officially starts.
* Thursday, August 8
* 15:30-17:00
* Room N002
* http://wikimania2013.wikimedia.org/wiki/Submissions/Presentation_clinic
The idea is to have some time to practice your Wikimania talk and get
feedback before you deliver it "live". We will also have a discussion
about some general aspects of presenting, including sharing best
practices and tips on things like slides, answering questions, etc.
Practicing a presentation ahead of time can help anyone, even the most
experienced presenters, give a better and more memorable talk. But
especially if you are new to presenting, are nervous about it, or just
want some additional feedback I hope that the clinic will help you
give a better presentation.
It will only be successful though if both experienced and new
presenters attend! So please sign up if you're interested, and
remember to drop by with your presentation on Thursday.
best,
-- phoebe

Dear Wikimaniacs,
we have recently kicked-off the Chapters Dialogue project
(https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Chapters_Dialogue) and are inviting
all of you who are interested in Wikimedia chapters goals, needs and
stories to our working session:
Tomorrow, Thursday from 10:00 - 14:00 in room M104 at PolyU.
Chapters Dialogue is a structured assessment of chapters needs, goals
and stories combined with a stakeholder survey. It will not only allow
us to reflect the status quo of our roles and relationships, but will
enable us to actively shape them in the future.
First, we will introduce the project and talk about goals, methodology
and the process.
Then we will present key questions of the questionnaire
(https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Chapters_Dialogue#Draft_research_quest…)
and
host an open discussion round where you can provide feedback, add
topics and questions to the questionnaire, contribute ideas for the
process and exchange with other participants.
This session addresses chapters, staff and board of the Wikimedia
Foundation, members of the FDC, AffCom and WCA and of course everybody
who is interested in the topic. Chapters can get directly in touch
with us and arrange appointments for interviews (either during
Wikimania or for our interview-tour that will take place from
September to December).
Come and join us, we are looking forward to meeting you!
Cheers,
Nicole and Kira

To kick off Wikimania Dev Day 1, we're having a tech shopping meetup:
Meet at 515pm (1715) in N112 hacking space. We're visiting Sham Shui Po,
the electronics marketplace for everything computer, electrical, telecom,
audio, video, photo, tablet, cases, cables, etc. This is also a good time
to pick up mobile phone SIM cards. (See info below for a recap of earlier
recommendation)
We'll be taking the MTR subway, so please have Octopus cards ready.

For those interested in a local mobile 3G data service, this one seems best
value for Wikipedians:
one2Free/CSL Power Prepaid SIM for HKD 88 (US $12)
You can get 7 days of unlimited 3G data for HKD 78. The remaining HKD 10
can be used for calls and/or SMS.
Find a one2free or CSL store, and ask for the 88 HKD prepaid SIM card. See:
http://one2free.hkcsl.com/jsp/prepaid_sim_card/power_prepaid_sim/
card_features/card_features.jsp
After you buy the card, and make sure it's active in your GSM/UMTS phone,
you can dial:
*101*832*4#
You should receive an SMS confirmation of having 7.2 Mbps service for 7
days.
If you need more credit for your SIM card, stop by any 7-11 shop to get a
top-up amount.
