Dear all:
Just sharing the images of our first Wiki Loves Monuments 2013 photowalk in
Mexico City the past saturday 7th. We have an attendance of 72 people
perhaps the light rain who surprised us in the Downtown of Mexico City!
We're preparing a post in our blog about the photowalk, also.

Lodewijk, ¿can we share the post in english for the international site?
Best regards.

Is this tool still operational? https://toolserver.org/~erfgoed/stream/
It produces a message "Please wait while we load some photos", but then does nothing.

Hi all,
while I doubt many organizing teams will be interested in it, for the 2012
record, you could order a 'participation certificate' to certify that you
participated in the 2012 world record of WIki Loves Monuments. This will be
different from an organizer certificate, but some might appreciate it
still. For ordering such certificate, you need to provide a 'participation
code'. I have this code.
If you're interested in ordering this certificate, please contact me
off-list. There are costs involved in ordering such certificate - see the
website of GWR - which are to be covered by yourself. I'm (unless you can
convince me otherwise) only planning to give it out to national organizing
teams and people who made a lot of uploads.
Anyway, I don't expect a lot of interest in this, but we'll see :)

Hi all,
During Wiki Loves Monuments, thousands of monuments have already been
uploaded and that is amazing! It's nice to have a lot of images of
monuments on Wikimedia Commons, but it's even nicer to also have these
images in use on Wikipedia. You can help by adding these unused images to
the lists on Wikipedia.
All uploaded images should contain the 'unique identifier' by which you can
identify a monument in your country. Thanks to this information, Erfgoedbot
recognizes which images belong to monuments that do not have a picture yet
in the monument lists on Wikipedia. Erfgoedbot reports these images on the
'unused images' page dedicated to your country-language combination,
together with a link to the exact monument list this image should be placed
in.
An overview of all 'unused images' reporting pages is maintained on
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Monuments_database/Unused_images,
which also explains how to use those pages. If you find a mistake,
have a
question or just want to say how much you like this tool, you can use the
talkpage attached to this overview page. The overview also reports which
language-country combinations have the most images that could be inserted
into a monument list. Currently the countries that require most attention
are:
* Russia in Russian - 22,334 unused images (because they recently created
the list, there's a bit of a backlog, so this is understandable)
* Ukraine in Ukrainian - 5,500 unused images
* Flanders (Belgium) in French - 3100 images
* Poland in Polish - 2300 images (lots of uploads!)
* Flanders (Belgium) in Dutch - 2100 images
* Armenia in Armenian - 1900 images
* Israel in Hebrew - 1200 images (and their competition hasn't even started
yet!)
* Switzerland in German - 800 images
Good luck with processing this, and please put a note on the talkpage if
you need help understanding something. It might make sense to ask some more
community members to jump in, if you can't manage by yourself. The lists
are updated daily so you probably want to put "your" list on your watchlist
so you can keep up.
Lodewijk

How long will he downtime be and can you please announce earlier? A week
is a normal notice time.
The Wiki Loves Monuments tools and applications (like the mobile app)
rely on this so please keep it as short as possible.

Hi Romaine,
Could you please make ID a required field?
BTW, I'm relieved to find that the second and third photos came with proper
ID and look a lot nicer than the first. We expect to gear up our campaign
next weekend.
Many thanks,
Taweetham

Hi All,
As WLM will start in just 3 days, I wander if anyone wants to (or did)
share the events you organize in your country to get as much participants
and as much (media) attention as possible,
Maybe you find our outreach event inspiring :)
We will start with a flash-mob in Yerevan (capital of Armenia). We have a
group of 20-40 people who are very interested in participating. We'll ask
them to come to a central square wearing WLM T-shirts and at a given
moment they will all together, "suddenly" start to photograph monuments of
this square.
Then they will split in smaller groups and go photograph elsewhere. We
will give them printed lists of monuments, as well as flyers to distribute
them.
At the end of the day everyone will come to the city library, where we
will have an "upload party" (or "upload-a-thon").
We are going to do the same event in other cities as well.
We think, this will attract more people to take part to the competition.
Besides, the monuments of these cities will be well documented in
Commmons.
So, how about you?
Cheers,
Vachagan

I forward this question (and the answer) from Ukraine, since it may be
of interest to everybody.

yes, the agendas have been donated to us by Lettera27 Foundation and
the shipping cost will be covered by the international team. All local
teams can apply.

Hi everyone,
Https is the default now. So if you make an upload link to Commons use
httpS and not http, otherwise the user will get a "you're not logged in
bla die bla" error message.
