Hi all,
A couple of weeks ago I was talking with Lodewikj about the idea of having
a configurable Jury Tool that would suit the need of most of the
participating countries. While it may seem early to talk about the Jury
Tool for countries that are participating for the first time, the countries
that are already experienced in the contest can give valuable input about
what features should this tool have.
We are already collecting information in this link
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2013/JuryTool
and I would like to get in touch with people that developed jury tools for
previous contests so that we can start a discussion about features.

Hello all,
On the Arabic Wikipedia there are monument lists for Jordan, but those are in a format which isn't handy and can't be used easy for Wiki Loves Monuments. Also in the lists we miss unique identifiers.
Is anyone willling (and able) to convert the lists to a template based system with template rows?
It are 12 short lists to be found on: https://ar.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D9%85%D9%84%D8%AD%D9%82:%D9%82%D8%A7%D8%A6%D…
See for the other 11 the navigational bar at the bottom. These tables miss unique identifiers and it would be welcome if there good be space for coordinates as well.
I wrote a comment about it on: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons_talk:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2013_i…
Thanks!
Romaine
Hi Richard,
Please send messages to the list. I'll reply inline.

Yes, of course, some listed buildings will even have their own category.
You can build a whole tree structure for that. We have people and bots
who can help to build such a structure.

You can use {{Commons category}} on a list page to tell the bot that
everything in the list should go into a certain category on Commons. It
expects one parameter with the name of the category on Commons, I'm not
sure if without parameter works. You can see that in action at
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Grade_B%2B_listed_buildings_in_County…
. That will send the images to
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Grade_B%2B_listed_buildings_in_…
.
It's also possible to add the field "commonscat" to a single list entry.
I did that at
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_Grade_B%2B_listed_buildi…
. If someone now uploads a monument with id "HB16/28/018 A", the bot
will put it in
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:ArmaghDown_Bridge,_Newry
Bot will always takes more specific so the logic is: 1. Single row 2.
List page 3. The category the list is in

Hi all
I wonder if there is anyone with experience in UploadCampaigns who could help us set up something for the UK, please? I had been fully intending to do this myself, but I fear that I am now rapidly running out of time, especially as I have no knowledge of this whatsoever and would have to learn it all from scratch. Unfortunately, my available time has been reduced by quite a lot recently following my wife's problematic eye surgery, and with family coming to stay with us next week things are not looking too promising for me to complete this before the competition is due to start.
I've asked for help from other UK volunteers, but without success, perhaps because we are all equally lacking in knowledge of this tool.
I and the rest of the UK team are happy to offer our undying thanks to the right person :)

Hi
The UK website at http://www.wikilovesmonuments.org.uk/ uses the WikiLovesMonuments WordPress theme, version 0.5. According to text that comes with the theme "It needs the Cimy image rotator plugin, suggested plugin: WLMImageCounter". However, the WLMImageCounter plugin does not appear to exist.
Anyone know anything about that, please?
Michael
I have been working on a WLM-friendly 'Wiki Takes' creator wizard on
Commons, that allows a simple alphanumeric to designate both official WLM
goals and other goals to be selected for a real-life photo scavenger hunt
event.
This kind of tool is potentially useful, in that many cities have only a
small number of official monuments (which may already have good photos),
and because it simplifies marking even of official monuments for the
newbies on a one-day photo hunt.
Here is a rough prototype version, currently parked at the rather messy
photo hunt project page:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Photo_scavenger_hunts#Event_wizard
Perhaps it would make more sense in future to associate the tool with the
more specific and developed WLM 'Wiki Takes' project page:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments/Organizing_a…
It works through this template, which converts an alphanumeric goal code
from a particular 'Wiki Takes' into the official monument id and template
(if applicable):
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Hunt
And this is the default table arrangement of the goal codes, with the goal
name before the comma and the monument id (if applicable) after it:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons:Photo_scavenger_hunt…
I hope to promote the use of this tool for several local United States WLM
photo hunts in the 'Wikipedia Takes America' campaign this September:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Takes_America
Any thoughts on how to improve this system would be most appreciated!
Certainly my tech skills leave much to be desired ;)
Thanks,
Richard
