Dear all,
a doubt:
is Instagram compatible with Creative Commons?
Can I upload *my* Instagram pics on Commons (so could it be used for WLM)?
Please consider that I'm not suggesting Instagram pics are good for WLM
(they are filtered and all, probably not very suitable for illustrating
monuments on Wikipedia)
but is a legal matter.

hello,
lately we have been in touch with some printing house to find a sponsor for
the calendars. We did find one as You know, but we also find a printing
house ready to print in high quality and good price the 12 winners (a.o.)
on alu-dibond <http://img.seenby.de/120807/css/bond.jpg> in an exhibition
format like A1 (594 × 841 cm). And first research on shipping costs let us
come to the conclusion, that we could have an exhibition tour with the
winner - motive hosted by local partners.
As an example:
Wikimedia Austria does have the Bundes Denkmalamt as partner. Would they
like to host for two weeks in the coming year and than send it further to
the next exhibition site previewed? The exhibition would be ready for show
and delivered in two boxes including the labels to each image and the
shipping papers.
We do consider this idea a nice opportunity to show to a broader public our
achievements and to deepen the contact with local partners. It might even
help to prepare the ground for a coming Wiki loves Monuments edition 2013.
Time line:
Start of the Tour: not before December 2012
End of the Tour August 2013 (scheduled date for the Wikimania)
Taken in account that the exhibition should stay at least 10 - 14 days at
each station and shipping might take some time, we could have 6 to 8
stations all together. WLM international would be able to finance the
production of the photo plates, boxes and stand for the shipping costs (up
to a certain amount). We could help with an press advisory and layouts for
promotion material. But we need Your help to find local partners.
The partner will host the exhibition and stand for promotion and press
work. Would You like to check with your partners, how they like the idea?
Please take in account that I will not be able to attend You in the coming
three weeks. I will be completely offline, due to health reasons. But than
I will be back and love to share Your ideas how and where the tour should
go.
Best regards
Barbara Fischer

Hi there,
as a matter of statistics -- and also for those that value quality
alongside quantity -- besides surpassing 300,000 uploaded images, the
number of pictures from Wiki Loves Monuments 2012 has reached 650
today.
At the time of writing this message, we had 322,258 images uploaded in
total; this means that one in every 495 images uploaded this year
(0,2%) was featured by the Wikimedia Commons community as being of a
high quality. Besides those 650 Quality images, we also have 7
Featured pictures and 1 Valued image; these numbers and percentages
are obviously only going to rise in the days and months to come.
You can see all highlighted images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2012 in
this category tree
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Highlighted_content_from_Wiki_L…>.
Thanks

Hi all,
Last year an often heard question was whether we would offer certificates
for the winners. Although I wouldn't want one myself necessarily, it would
be nice if we at least can make sure to use a similar design.
Is there anyone who is willing to design something? Some criteria that come
to mind:
* There should be plenty of space
* The theme color should be red (because of the logo). The WLM logo should
be prominently visible. Also 2012 should get a prominent place in the
design, as well as the name of the country.
* There should be place for two signatures, but there should always be one
(for a jury chair). The second signature could potentially be used for a
director, president of the chapter or the main organizer.
* The certificate should state:
** Name of the recipient
** File name of the photo
** Description of the photo
** Date & Place of signing / ceremony
* It should be possible to make the certificate up to four-lingual, but it
should also work nicely in English.
Anything forgotten? Ideally this would become a file that is easily
adaptable.
Any previous designs are also welcome!
Best,
Lodewijk
Dear colleges,
Do we have any tool which could count amonut of diffrent monuments, taken
by uploader during a competition? For example a am interested to determine
how many monuments (with different ID's) did this

photograph.

I guess it would be wise to give at least a member of the organizing
committee per country Admin control to manage submissions. It was tedious
on my part to request a Commons admin to delete entries so that the
uploader can re-submit their entries again, if ever it wasn't uploaded
correctly using the special upload wizard. I had a handful of requests
notify the uploader to re-upload the entries again. Uploading was very
simple but some still had difficulty. Here I am in the last 15 minutes of
the Philippine competition and faced with a sad uploader with 8 photos
which weren't uploaded correctly. :(

Hello. Guillermo Vasquez (megavas(a)outlook.com), a colombian participant,
would like his Flickr pictures to be imported to Commons. He sent me an
e-mail asking for help with the process. Can any bot controller help us
with that? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
The following would be the images to be imported, and the data for each
corresponding monument (permission given to import every picture of each
collection; CC-BY-SA 3.0):
Parque arqueológico de San Agustín - 17-007
http://www.flickr.com/photos/megavas/sets/72157631293508324/
Casa de La Moneda - 00-017

Museo Nacional - 00-101

If you need information about how do images data look in Commons, please
check this example:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:%22Laberinto%22-Edific…
(please
be aware that some data should not be used when importing, such as the last
category and the location).
If you need any extra information before proceeding, please tell me so!
Thanks!
