Dear all,
a doubt:
is Instagram compatible with Creative Commons?
Can I upload *my* Instagram pics on Commons (so could it be used for WLM)?
Please consider that I'm not suggesting Instagram pics are good for WLM
(they are filtered and all, probably not very suitable for illustrating
monuments on Wikipedia)
but is a legal matter.
Aubrey
Hello,
the calendars were shipped off yesterday! They will hopefully arrive within
the next weeks. Please let me know, when they did.

Hi everybody,
as I wrote in a previous thread on it.wiki the {{commonscat}} template
has been replaced with the more general {{interprogetto}} template. As
of now {{commonscat}} is deprecated on it.wiki, being kept only for
compatibility purposes. That said, though, the template doesn't work
as the versions on it.wiki or fr.wiki accepting only one paramtere
(namely the name of the commons category) and thus there is no way to
change the visualized text which renders the template ugly to put in
the lists.
I have asked for a change, but there is strong consensus against the
reintroduction of {{commonscat}}, moreover it has been noted that the
{{commonscat}} template is deprecated/redirect also on en.wiki and
fr.wiki:
* can the bot be changed to accept the name of the template to search?
(in it.wiki's case {{interprogetto}})
* if not, there is some alternative way to obtain the statistics
provided by that bot?
I have asked the adaptation of {{commoscat}} to follow the same
specifics as in en.wiki (while it will remain deprecated) as a
temporary measure while adapting the bot.
Can all this work?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Cristian
Hi there,
this is just to inform you that we will be closing the participants'
survey with the end of the year, that is on 23:59 UTC, December 31,
2012 -- so if there is anyone that is still waiting with adding his or
her answers to the survey, I ask you not to wait too long :-))
I have been thinking about closing the survey for the past month or
so, but unbelievably, we are still receiving new replies every day!
There have been over 1,750 replies so far, but we'll need to set the
closing date anyway, so I decided it to be December 31.
The survey is available at
<http://toolserver.org/~platonides/wlmsurvey/wlm2012.php>.

Hello! A member of WM-ES (user:Invadinado) created a video with some of the best pictures of WLM Spain 2012. This video is avalable on Wikimedia Commons, and all of it (pictures and music) is free, with a license CC allowed in Commons. Subtitles will be added soon.

We hope you like it.

Hi! Calendars of WLM arrived today to Wikimedia Spain. Barbara, thanks for everythink, and please, tell us how and when we must pay them.

Hi,
is there someone who would like to run a bot to give people some Wiki Loves
Monuments barnstars on Commons? Elke created some stunning barnstars for
this, and it would be great if the love could be spread.
They can be found here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Elya/xxx
I was thinking about
* a 'finalist' barnstar for all 324 images that were nominated (I can
provide a list of url's - which is slightly more reliable than the list on
Commons itself). Should be placed on image description pages.
* A 'finalist' barnstar for all photographers of any of these pictures
(same list). Multiple barnstars should be given if multiple images got
nominated. Should be placed on user talk pages (single topic/edit).
* A 'winner' barnstar for all 15 international winning images (with their
rank) instead of the finalist template. Should be placed on image
description pages.
* A 'winner' barnstar for all photographers of one of the 15 international
winning images (with their rank) instead of the finalist template. Should
be placed on user talk pages.
Who would be able & willing to run this?
Thanks!
Lodewijk

Onderwerp: [WikimediaMobile] Removing Wiki Loves Monuments from the
Android App store
Datum: Thu, 13 Dec 2012 15:45:20 -0800
Van: Tomasz Finc <tfinc(a)wikimedia.org>

This is a heads up that the Wikimedia Mobile team is going to be un-
publishing the WLM app from the Google Play store.
Practically this means that you will no longer be able download the WLM
app from the market. You *will* still be able to download all previous
releases from :
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Mobile/Release_history#Apps
This change will not affect any of our current users.
Why are we doing this? The app was specifically crafted and resourced
with an expiration date of the WLM contest. Now that WLM has fully
wrapped up we'd like to take what we've learned and apply all of our
energy to meeting our annual goal of 1,000 photo uploads / month. In
order to do this we need to take what we've learned from the WLM app and
channel it into a more generic mobile web and app experience. This
requires us to free up resources that would be supporting the app for
bug fixes, legal updates, etc.
What does this mean to the existing users? Nothing much. The mobile team
put in a redirect so that the app works with the tool server now. That
will make it so that no existing users are interrupted for the life time
of the TS.
As the mobile team executes on the next six months were keenly
interested in building solutions that can easily work for WLM in the future.
Stay update with what were working on by following the engineering
report:Â
