Thomas if you've been following along you will see that a previous shortcut
was deleted *because* the arbitrator did not want additional "subpages" in
that space.
Granted a redir is not exactly a subpage, but it's likely that the further
away we can get from the complaint the better it will be acceptable. That is,
the less confusion over whether something is in the same space, the better.

Poking around I see that RFAR is already used as a shortcut to
"Requests for Arbitration"
I was sort-of hoping to come up with a shortcut space that was *totally
unused* :)
How about ARBR
Something that *could never be* confused with anything currently existing.
I'm assuming this is part of the deleting issue.

Cat I believe the main objection was that the RFA space should not be used
at all.
But perhaps you'd be okay with something like RFA-R/Davenbelle
?
Its only a few more characters.

Right. I think you were correct to bring out that there is no speedy
rationale, for deleting subpages merely because some Arb "wishes" to keep the space
clear.
Do you have a proposal for what to call the redir?

Actually I need to change my suggestion. RFA/Whatever is probably a bad
redir as it compromises the ability to have the RFA sub-space available.
A better redir method might be something like "RFA:Whatever" or
"RFA-Whatever", or maybe even something completely new like "TinyRFA/Whatever" as it
creates a new space that would never interfere with the normal RFA usage.

Yes but, in general there should be no problem created redirs to anything,
for any reason, whatsoever.
Legislating redirs in this way seems very pointy to me. ABF vs White Cat is
hardly constructive behavior. Perhaps White Cat could simply create a redir
of RFA/Blubber or something if White Cat doesn't like typing long names.
White Cat come up with a short redir that would not imply the case was
*about* a particular participant like RFA/WCetal or something and I'd support that.

Is this a trivially small issue? It should have been but it isn't. Out of

Fine. Now that you've given us the relevant info, I went to the user talk
page of that deleter and posted a support for your idea. Or at least a
support that the community should have input and this should not have been
speedied. I see nothing that would support a speedy and it deserves it's day in
court.

I do not really see what purpose arbcom serves anymore.
It clearly is incapable of resolving disputes. But now it is starting to be
the source of disputes.
I tried creating a redirect to a former case (for the convenience to
reference to this old case which has a rather long title). That redirect was
promptly deleted (by an arbitrator I believe). Deletion was not based on a
speedy deletion criteria. In addition deleting admin wasn't even willing to
discuss this to date. My post to ANI over this was shut tight.
On a different note I was trying to seek restructuring RfAR page. As in
technically chipping out appeal part of the page (which now occupies a
greater amount of space than actual requests). I am told was attempted not
too long ago. The attempt failed only because arbitrators and clerks did not
like it - or so I am told. For seeking to change it despite the
arbitrator/clerk apathy towards people who have a very slow internet
connection my initiative was labeled as trolling.
If I am not even allowed to change/criticize the technical aspects of arbcom
and if such an attempt hits an iron curtain I wonder how useful arbcom is on
actual controversies.
So I really do not really see what purpose arbcom serves anymore.

White Cat. Why are you never willing to disclose the specific actions with

I think I may well purchase this shirt. Along with that [[exploding
whale]] t-shirt that was on cafepress at some stage.
It seems that I've helped make some t-shirt makers a small profit.
Should I be charging commission?
Nice to know my work lives on, even though I have retired. I think.
