I'm starting to work on a project that will involve me finding specific
entities based on names and attributes. In other words, very search-driven.
What is the best starting point? Do I go for the 0.4 release or build from
the master branch on GitHub? Are snapshots published anywhere?
Thanks,
Mike
Hi,
I'm working on a database of all the people who agree/disagree on issues
such the proposed referendum on UK membership of the European Union [1].
I think this is outside the scope of Wikidata (if not, let me know!), but I
suppose some people might like it.
Would anyone like to help?
Kind regards,
Hector

Hi everyone,
I’m Sachini Herath, an undergraduate from Sri Lanka. I am working on
building Linked Data mapping tools for Drupal 8 as my Google Summer of Code
2015 project. The tools would enable the users to map Drupal entities to
Linked Data items. Details of the project can be found in my blog.
http://alongthetrail-sachini.rhcloud.com/
To select a Linked Data item, a dropdown element similar to freebase-suggest
widget <https://developers.google.com/freebase/v1/search-widget> is being
developed, but in a more generic approach so that it can be configured with
any Linked Data Provider.
For Wikidata, I'm using "*wbsearchentities*" API for querying and "
*wbgetentities*" for retrieving information about individual items in json
format. However I could not find a way to reconstruct the url of image
property for an item, so that I can fetch the image (property P18, P154
etc) for displaying. Are there any APIs or alternative methods to fetch
images from Wikidata?
I would also like to hear about any optimizations that can be done for the
query or alternate APIs. For example an API to return id, label,
description and image urls in just one/ few call/s.
Thank you
Sachini
Dear list members,
Wikimedia Netherlands has been approached by the CBS / Statistics
Netherlands (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statistics_Netherlands), the
governmental bureau for statistics, about a possible cooperation to make
data available on a (yet to be determined) Wikimedia project. Since this is
in a very preliminary stage, we don't have any further details at the
moment, but I would be interested to hear if there could be any use of
their data on Wikidata, or if similar data from similar institutions
elsewhere have already been used.
Best,

Hey all,
I've written a blog post about a new Wikibase PHP library that was released
recently. It contains a short overview of the rationale behind the
component, as well as some words on how it can be useful to people working
with Wikibase.
