Hey all,
I just got a warning from Ops that our log table is growing extremely fast.
One write up by this is here:
<https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47415>
Basically, a vast majority of edits on Wikidata are written to the log
table as they are autopatrolled. And since we have a lot of edits, this
makes the table grow very very quickly.
We would like to:
* stop logging so many edits
* drop those logs that are already there about patrolling
We want to understand how that influences your workflows and what we can do
about that.
Please speak up if this change would be an issue.
Cheers,
Denny

To be honest, I see this in the same way like Adrian and Vito. MF-W has even posted Wikidata's current OS stats on the project chat, which clearly indicates no need for oversighters at Wikidata for now, in my opinion. That's also the reason why I didn't support the requests for oversight permissions. It is clearly not like there are many requests which cannot be handled by stewards on time, anymore. Honestly, I'm also a bit disappointed because we are focussing so much on, in my opinion, pointless right discussions. Currently, the most common task is to suppress revealed admin IP addresses. There's an easy solution: check whether you are logged in and read the messages which are showing up if you try to edit a page being logged out.
The target of Wikidata is still to develop a free knowledge base.
Regards,
Leon

Oh well, I don't make the rules, and if people really want more flags we might as well let them ask. At least we aren't replacing the 40+ stewards with just two ovs, and have a whopping seven candidates. I'm not sure what to think of that, actually... Especially since that's more than past os requests done on Wikidata.

Here's a set mapping GND IDs to German and English Wikipedia articles, for
the authority control friends here. I didn't check if we have most of the
mappings in Wikidata already, but maybe it is an interesting set.

Hi,
<score> blahblah </score> or <score foo bar> ... </score> is introduces for
music notes as written below. See also

live use. Anyone to add a new exceptcion to textlib?
Not a big deal, I am just far from my own computer now where I could solve
it. It should be handled in the way as syntaxhighlight in line 121 here:

Hi.
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189
Congrats to all involved in getting bug 189 resolved! :-)
Bug 189 was one of the oldest unresolved and one of the better known bugs
in Bugzilla involving a request to add a music module to Wikimedia wikis.
Quick stats about the bug:
* Opened: 2004-08-22
* Votes: 48
* Comments: 123
The bug filer is still around and left a nice note on the bug
(<https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189#c123>):

Congratulations to all !
It makes my dream comes true today !
Thanks million times!

<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Note> seemed like an easy target for
demoing the newly deployed Score extension
(<https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Score>) on a production site,
if anyone's interested. I tried looking around for a point and click
lilypond or ABC code generation tool (preferably Web-based), but a lot of
these tools quickly went over my head.

Hi all,
There are currently 7 editors who are requesting the oversight permission:
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Requests_for_permissions/Oversight.
They are: Hahc21, Rschen7754, Sven Manguard, Techman224, Courcelles, Stryn,
and Addshore.
If you have the time, please comment on these requests.
Thanks!

Heya folks :)
A journalist asked me for some nice examples if infoboxes using data
from Wikidata already. Does anyone have any good pointers I can show
him? It would be very useful to have some showcases anyway for the
deployment on all remaining Wikipedias tomorrow.
Cheers

Heya folks :)
Phase 2 is not live on English Wikipedia. For more details please see
http://blog.wikimedia.de/?p=14896
The remaining Wikipedias are still scheduled for Wednesday.
At the same time we have enabled a new feature that lets you add
another language link to an article without having to go to Wikidata
if there is no other language listed on Wikidata yet.

Hi,
Wikidata is a very useful effort. It seems associating an item with a
wikipedia article. Then I'm thinking the following scenarios to understand
it further:
Say, an article is associated with an item Qx.
1) It becomes redirect to another article, will Qx be changed in this
scenario?
2) It is deleted. Will Qx be also deleted?
3) That article is split as 2 new articles, how will we generate items for
them?
4) Or multiple articles are merged as one, how will their items be changed?
