Hi All,
I was thinking of creating a tool to help people write, edit and validate taxoboxes on en.wikipedia.org but then wikidata was pointed out to me. It looks like an exciting project.
Reading the technical proposal, phase 2, not to be done in project:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikidata/Technical_proposal#Not_to_be_done_b…
I'm not clear whether existing data in infoboxes will be used to populate wikidata as it doesn't appear to come into any of the categories of data listed. Will this be automated or semi-automated task? Am I just not reading it correctly?
*If* I were to a work on an editor tool would it be feasible to think in terms of editing existing syntax for now and in version two adding a "migrate to wikidata" button? Would all the exiting infoboxes move over to wikidata in a 'big bang' approach?
My second (impossible) question: What time scale are we looking at for live infoboxes actually being populated by wikidata data?
Many thanks for your thoughts,
Roger

Hi folks,
have a look at
https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q49382&rcid=449383&setlang=hu
This item has a German label with no link and nothing else.
My question is not if it is useful or not (this is up to the community) but
why do I see it completely empty when I set a language other than German?
Why do I not see descriptions in every language, only in my chosen one?
Why can I edit description only in my chosen language?
Or do I do soemthing wrong?

Dear Wikidata-People,
I was wondering what sort of Type System / Ontology is planned.
I have in mind something similar to the DBpedia-Ontology. To be able,
for example, to query Wikidata for all languages or all movies. Is
something like this planned and if yes, how will it work?
Best,
Dominic
Hi folks,
I am new to Wikidata, so forgive me if I make a question that is so obvious you'll raise your eyebrows. I did not find the info in the docs, however.
Is there a tool which lists the items wheere a given language would be missing? For instance, if I want to add PL.wiki references that actually exist or if I want to check which articles are missing from pl.wiki and should perhpas be wrotten?
Cheers,
[[User:Wpedzich]]
Hello,
tried to add a new item to the Wikidata-repo. Everything works fine but
I'm missing a possible feature: The suggestions popping up while
entering a keyword is really nice, but sometimes there are more meanings.
In such cases it would really help to have the intro of the wiki in the
pop-up, retrieved with e.g.
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&prop=extracts&exintro&titles…
I know that is one more request, but maybe also the opensearch function
could be improved, that is provides this feature by default?
Just another suggestion:
Is it possible to set the same background-color for the pop-up-entries,
while stepping through the list with the keybord as by hovering over
them with the mouse-cursor? The contrast font-color/background is not
very high.
Marco
Heya folks :)
I just wanted to let you know that the stewards have appointed the
first round of admins on wikidata.org based on voting in the
community.
http://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Administrators
Congratulation to the new admins!
Cheers

Heya folks :)
Denny and I will be doing another round of Wikidata office hours. You
can come and ask your questions about Wikidata - technical and
non-technical. The next ones will be:
* 5. November at 17:30 UTC
in German
* 6. November at 17:30 UTC
in English
Both of them will happen on IRC in #wikimedia-office on freenode. Logs
will be published afterwards for everyone who can't attend.
I hope to see many of you there.
Cheers
Lydia
PS: Don't forget the Wikidata Main Page design that needs your hand:
