What is your MediaWiki version
hi,
now I got it with the Contact form but now its saying something like this
"this user has not provided a guilty emailaddeess"
where can I change this?
I set the Localsettings already
$wgEmergencyContact = "info(a)mydomain.com";
$wgPasswordSender = "info(a)mydomain.com";
The ContactPage.php
# Configuration
// Name of a registered wiki user who will receive the mails
$wgContactUser = myusername;
// E-mail address used as the sender of the contact email, if the visitor
does
// not supply an email address. Defaults to $wgEmergencyContact.
$wgContactSender = null;
// The name to be used with $wgContactSender.
// This will be shown in the recipient's e-mail program
$wgContactSenderName = 'Contact Form on ' . $wgSitename;
// If true, users will be required to supply a name and an e-mail address
// on Special:Contact.
$wgContactRequireAll = false;
hello,
I installed the Extension:ContactPage so I did the following:
downloaded the files
extracted them on my computer
uploaded the directory into my extension folder
changed the localsettings
but what do I need to do now?
Sorry I am really new to this
I am trying to install my first Mediawiki site and have a
problem. My system settings on ReadyHosting.com indicates that it is
running MySQL version 4.1.22 which meets Mediawiki requirements;
however, when I try to install Mediawiki I get the error message
"Can't connect to MySQL server on 'VMSSQL01'." Checking to see if I
had the database set up properly, I discovered it is actually MS
SQL. Will Mediawiki work with MS SQL? I have not been able to find
a reference to MS SQL in any of the help files.
Thanks,
Gary Roush
I'm trying to move a MediaWiki 1.16 instance from one hosting provider to
other, and the move is breaking all page titles that have non-us ascii
characters in them, in what looks like an UTF decoding problem. Strangely
the page contents are fine after import, and I can create new pages that
have scandinavian characters on the new provider without any issues, so I'm
slightly baffled as to where the problem is.
I'm doing the move using mysqldump / import, since the MediaWiki's
importDump.php barfs on the new server when trying to import an XML dump
("XML-tuonti epäonnistui jäsennysvirheen takia. rivillä 1, sarakkeessa 1
(tavu 3; "<mediawiki"): Empty document" - gotta love localized error
messages).
I tried reading the SQL and it looks to me like the database contents are
encoded by MediaWiki to some "safe" format, so the problem should not be
with Mysql?
I can't find anything related after reading all the documentation I could
find. The encoding issues that I can find refer to global encoding problems,
not just with page titles.
Any pointers where to look?
Other system details: apache2, ubuntu, PHP 5.2.3.
Thanks,
sulka
Hello,
I love this kind of how the banner is integrated into the site. Is there a
chance to do that also on my wiki (with my message and my photo banner?)

On this page
http://www.readyhosting.com/readyhosting/hosting.bml
if you look at the differences between the $198 plan and the $99 plan it
*implies* that for $198 you *also* get MS SQL
Not that it's the only thing you get. You have mySql and MS Sql then. For
$99 you only get the mySQL
So I'd say it's there, but you're looking at the wrong button.
I've been puzzling over this one for a while.
There is a page on the OOo Wiki that is in the Category:Candidates for speedy
deletion:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/User_Experience/Improving_OOo_Defa…http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Category:Candidates_for_speedy_del…
Normally, that means someone has added {{delete}} somewhere in the page. The
problem is... I cannot see the {{delete}} anywhere in the page in question...
nor does it seem to be in a template the page uses... yet somehow the page has
landed in the delete category (and it's been there a long time).
It's possible I'm blind... :-)
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions why the page is showing up in the
delete category? Is something broken on the database side that would do this?
Or is there some way the {{delete}} can sneak into a page unintentionally (eg
from transcluded content, which as far as I can see the page does not have)?
C.
Yesterday I set up a new server and migrated my site from
MediaWiki 1.16.0
PHP 5.2.10-pl0-gentoo (apache2handler)
MySQL 5.0.70
2.6.21-gentoo-r4
to
MediaWiki 1.16.0
PHP 5.3.3 (apache2handler)
MySQL 5.1.52
2.6.18-194.26.1.el5PAE (CentOS 5.5 i386)
For the most part things have worked, but so far I've found 2 exceptions
(I'm using monobook):
- Code in Common.css doesn't seem to be running. Some style changes that
were init failed, for the moment I've had to update some monobook skin files
directly.
- When I typed a term in the previous sidebar searchbox, it would show a
dropdown list of items matching the pattern I typed in. On the new one, no
pattern shows up.
Has anyone else seen similar behavior, and have you figured out why? I'm
not sure how to deal with this, and I'd hate to have to downgrade PHP if I
can avoid it. I did the same migration to an Ubuntu 10.04 machine, it
transferred over and ran fine.
Thanks for any feedback, I appreciate it.

Hi,
I want to disable the "RecentChanges" special page on my Mediawiki 1.16
version even for user that are logged in. I have tried two different
methods:
1. Using Lockdown extension I added the following in my LocalSettings.php
require_once( "$IP/extensions/Lockdown/Lockdown.php" );
$wgSpecialPageLockdown['RecentChanges'] = array('sysop');
$wgSpecialPageLockdown['Export'] = array('sysop');
With the above I was able to disable the "Export" special page but not the
RecentChanges special page.
2. As per [1] I did the following in my LocalSettings.php:
function disableSomeSpecialPages(&$list) {
unset($list['RecentChanges']);
unset($list['Export']);
return true;
}
$wgHooks['SpecialPage_initList'][]='disableSomeSpecialPages';
but even that does not help. Any ideas?
Thanks!
