I have a page that is exhibiting some odd behavior. If I click on
EDIT, the code for the page appears, but then if I click on PREVIEW,
the preview view is blank as is the code block.
There is a warning at the top of the page that says it is longer than
32k and recommends shortening it because some browsers may have
trouble editing it. What is odd is that another page has the same
warning, but it displays just fine in both editing and preview modes.
Why do browsers have this limitation? And how do I get around it? I
really don't want to shorten the page.

Hi all!
In the archive I have read this sentence:
> Perhaps you should explain a little bit more detailed, what u are looking for,
> because not many users here know the twiki really good.
(Jan, Sun Oct 22 21:52:29 UTC 2006)
This makes me hope that someone here has already solved the problem I
have. We are in the implementation phase of a Wiki in my company.
Currently, we have around 5 different wikis around, some TWikis, some
MediaWikis, some moinmoins. Unfortunately, the data transmission from
one to the other isn't that easy.
I have found some resources on the internet[1] about moving from one
system to the other, and they all work somehow (more or less). What I
have not found is a system to import a good bunch of TWiki pages
(~200) in a decent manner.
In the maintenance dir there is "importUseModWiki.php". I don't know
usemod, but did someone finish some "importTwiki.php"?
Any hints appreciated!
Cheers
André (very, very new to this list. Hello everybody!)

Hello,
using MW 1.12 and latest Special:DeleteOldRevisions (1.3)
When I test before deletion (and I suppose when I'll delete), I always get a
SQL error
SELECT old_id FROM `wiki_text` WHERE old_id NOT IN (
1444,1445,1453,1574,6066,1634,1635,.......... really long list .....)
MySQL returned error « 1064 : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check
the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right
syntax to use near
'4415,4416,3480,4422,4423,4424,4425,4426,4427,4428,1566,3475,4429,4431,4432,4433,'
at line 1 ».
I tried to restrict to a small namespace, it's still the same.
How can I delete old revisions ?
My DB is still growing and I don't need to keep really old revisions.

Hi,
I want to create a form where one can type in "bar" and then it will
direct you to the page "foo:bar" while going in edit mode
(title=foo:bar&action=edit).
What would be the best way to do this?
Thanks,
Alain
If I call a page from my wiki using something other than the default skin,
by putting ?useskin=chick for example after the URL for the page, is there
some way to make links that users click on, in that page, also use the
"chick" skin?
I'd very much like to find an easy not to hacky way to decide which skin is
used so I can repurpose some of my content within other sites and not have
it all fall apart as soon as someone clicks on something and gets put back
to the main site skin.
Help appreciated,

Hello,
I've set my wiki to be not read- and writeable for not logged-in users:
> $wgGroupPermissions['*']['read'] = false;
>$wgGroupPermissions['*']['edit'] = false;
My read-whitelist I've managed with
> $wgWhitelistRead = array (...)
The thing is that afaik there's no
> $wgWhitelistWrite
but I need such a whitelist.
In my wiki, there are three areas:
1) Not read- and writeable for group *
2) Only readable for group *
3) Read- and writeable for group *
I've tried to manage this with EditSubpages extension but it didn't
work, it just showed me confusing "header already set" warnings.
So: Are there other ways to manage this constellation?
Cheers

Thanks to everyone who offered to be a technical reviewer for my upcoming
O'Reilly book, "MediaWiki". More than 30 mediawiki-l readers responded,
most of them VERY qualified! I could pick only a few reviewers, however,
and all of them have now been selected and notified.
After the writing is complete (in about 2 weeks), I will post the table of
contents here. Publication is rumored to be in September/October.
Thanks again to everyone who replied.

Support Teammates,
I am watching a few pages in my watchlist. When I get notified, some of
the items
show up with an exclamation point in front of the watched page, and some
show up
with "m!" in front of the page I am notified about. Some have no
notation.
So:
!modified_page
or
m!modified_page
(in the watchlist)
What does the "!" and the "m!" mean ? How is the person editing the
page setting that ?
tanx,
Lori
Hello, all. This seems obvious, but I couldn't find an answer on the
internets or in a quick look at the list archive, so:
In a new skin, working with skins/MonoBook.php (say), how do I put in
navigational links to external sites? It seems that any links I hard
code get wiped out by some javascript fairies, and I'm wondering if
there is some way to override or work around this?
MediaWiki 1.12.0rc1
PHP 5.1.6 (apache2handler)
MySQL 5.0.24a-community-nt
I just want to have my own header with a few tabs linking to thinks
outside the wiki.
Thanks,
agd
Hi,
we have our technical documentation and device configuration in a
Mediawiki system since version 1.4.
Before searching, Mediawiki cuts a new or changed article into words, so
an IP address like 127.0.0.1 is cut into the four words 127, 0, 0 and 1
and saved as a searchable list "127 0 1".
Even if I decrease the standard word search length from 4 to 1, I would
not find any IP address -- and we have lots of IP addresses in our
documentation.
Is there any way to search for IP addresses?
Kind regards,
Ulrich
