Hi,
Article titles with apostrophes and quotation marks are "breaking"
when upgrading to Mediawiki 1.10.1. I found the articles with random
characters inserted in the title and the original, punctuated title,
empty. Is there a way to avoid this?
Cheers,
James
Hi@all,
we wanna use the lucene search on our intranet. As I read on the
extension docu, it's not possible to add this extension on windows systems.
So my question: Is there a way to use this search-engine on a
windows-System.
regards
mic

Posting to the list.
Before posting to this list, please read the MediaWiki FAQ[10]. Many common
questions are answered here. You may also search the list archives to see if
your question has been asked before.
To post to the list, send mail to <mediawiki-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>. This is a
public list, so you should not include confidential information in mails you
send.
When replying to an existing thread, use the "Reply" or "Followup" feature of
your mail client, so that clients that understand threading can sort your
message properly. When quoting other messages, please use the "inline" quoting
style[11], for clarity.
When creating a new thread, do not reply to an existing message and change the
subject. This will confuse peoples' mail readers, and will result in fewer
people reading your mail. Instead, compose a new message for your post.
Messages posted to the list have the "Reply-To" header set to the mailing list,
which means that by default, replies will go to the entire list. If you are
posting a reply which is only interesting to the original poster, and not the
list in general, you should change the reply to only go to that person. This
avoids cluttering the list with irrelevant traffic.

I'm having a mysterious problem with a custom extension (in MW 1.10.1)
that seems to be running twice instead of once. Here is a minimal
example:
<?php
$wgHooks['ParserBeforeTidy'][] = 'Problem';
function Problem(&$parser, &$text) {
$text = "$text abc";
}
?>
This should simply append the string "abc" to the end of the article
text, and it does. However, it also prints "abc" inside the footer!
The footer append is happening here (notice the "abc"):
<li id="viewcount"><p>This page has been accessed 2,125
times.</p> abc</li>
Why does this second append happen, and how can it be prevented?
I disabled all our other extensions, and the problem still occurs.
Thanks,
DanB
I noticed this on Wikipedia and assume it's a generic MW thing.
In a category of persons, I see the list of articles where some persons
are listed under the first letter of their first name and others by
their last name. E.g.:
A
John Adams
B
Barney Rubble
I looked at the [[category:..]] statements in the articles and couldn't
see anything that could explain it. How does it decide whether to use
first or last name and how does it know it's a name of a person and not
just a two-word article name?

Creating a wizard I've I final problem: I wanna check, if the title of
the new article is not used by sending a ajax request.
Some deeper info's
the wizard leads the user through some steps (gui) when crating a new
article. In step one they have to insert or change a title. This title
has to be unique.
I hope someone could explain, how to implemet this. In my otherprojects
I solved this by using prototype.js.

Hello,
Im triying to add an image in the article list for each category.
In each article i have an image with the same name that the article [[Image:{{PAGENAME}}.jpg]]
I want to add an image in wikitext inside line 360 of includes/CategoryPage.php, some like [[Image:%ARTICLENAME%.jpg|50px]]
My problem is that i dont know which function return the article name, and i dont know if its possible render wikitext from here.
Please if anybody can give me some introduction to i can develop it i will be grateful.
I have version 1.9.3 running on a LAMP server and I have two problems.
One is that pages seem to be removing themselves from Categories. I
cannot find any pattern to this at all - it is random as fas as I can
tell. Pages that have not been edited for months just remove themselves.
To fix the broken category links while working out problem 1, I ran
updateall.php. Now I have nothing in any of the categories. I also ran
refreshlinks.php
Pages saved via the web browser appear (and reappear) in Categories when
they are saved.
There are no outstanding jobs.
I have full access to the server, but not sure where to start on this...
Thanks.
