I've been browsing the MW website for a while looking for two pieces of
information. But I can't seem to find them.
First of all, would there be any way to backup the database to a .--- file?
And would there be any way to import a similar .--- file into a fresh
database?
Also, would it be possible to copy a wiki to a home computer so you
could work on it offline?
I know this would require the database offline too, so the first
question would kick in again.

Hello,
I'm Kosson from Romania and I have completed translating all Help pages.
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Contents/ro
and
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Category:Help/ro
My question is: How do I add Romanian link to the Languages template ?
I understand this is a semi-automated process as long as the help
system is entirely translated and properly linked. I've done that and
carefully checked.
Do I have to signal or modify something. I read all I could find and
nothing seemed to me clear crystal.
Please bear with me if this might seem a foolish question.
Thank you for your time

Even that would be enough- linking only the first appearance of a wiki word/phrase :)

Jack

Hello,
[[I'm]] [[afraid]] [[it]] [[will]] [[be]] [[boring]]... if you know what I
mean ;-)
In the same article, if the word software is repeated a lot of time, we
usually link the first, else the page will be a bit "heavy" to read.

Since I was finally able to use PHP5 using CGI, I upgraded to MW 1.10.0.
Everything looked good, up until I decided to try re-installing the
ParserFunctions extension. Then I loaded the homepage and got this error:
Database error
A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in
the software. The last attempted database query was:
(SQL query hidden)
from within function "Title::loadRestrictions". MySQL returned error
"1146: Table '*****_Az01.wf_page_restrictions' doesn't exist (localhost)".
Given that it doesn't mention any files, line numbers, or even the
query, I'm stuck as to what to do. I tried looking up this error (or
portions of it), and I couldn't find anything.
Help?
-Azurite
I couldnt find any articles on it in the archive so I thought I should
let it be known.
Yesterday we recieved a report that a particular page would cause a
fatal error and crash the browser in IE only. It was hard to believe
but true. After checking through the code we noticed what the problem
was... a syntax error. We mad the following correction to the page:
:<tt>ptcHTMLAnchor("Actions").Click
ptcHTMLTD(" Create Document").Click 'three extra spaces</tt>
Into
:<tt>ptcHTMLAnchor("Actions").Click
:ptcHTMLTD(" Create Document").Click 'three extra spaces</tt>
For some reason, one user left out a semicolon from one line on the
page. When we put it back the crashing stoped and the page has been
stable since. Its strange how the error only happened in IE and no
others.

Dear Support Group,
I am using MediaWiki v1.9.3 with PHP 5.0.4 on a Windows 2000 Server (IIS
5.0).
When a wiki crashes with a PHP error like this:
Error: PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 77F89BB2
Does anybody know how to track down what is actually causing the issue ?
Since there are many wiki's in the web instance, it is hard to track
down.
Let me know if you have a process for tracking down the PHP access
violation.
a million thanx,
Lori

I am trying to lock down my wiki site, but when I set
$wgGroupPermissions['*']['createaccount'] = false; I can't even get to
the login page. It says I must login to access that page (catch-22). I
am using MediaWiki version 1.7.1.
Thanks
Steve
Happy Wednesday everyone,
In our footer, we currently have last modified and page count feature
showing. The only problem is that the page count grows by 2 everytime
anyone refreshes the page. We would like to change this back to one but
dont know where to start.
Has anyone else ever had this problem before? Suggestions on where to
look?
Any feedback is kindly welcome,

Peter Blaise responds: Thanks, Rob. It's always enlightening for me to
experience alternative points of view. Your way of seeing things always
expands my way of seeing things. Thank you.
"hosts" (actually, probably meant "host's") could mean ... oh well,
maybe you guessed it. I learn a whole lot more by being wrong than I
ever learned by being right! =8^o
What say, Matt? Got it solved already?
If not, tell us more and we'll try to pitch in.

Trying to install my mediwiki on my server and it's saying the
/config/index.php is not found. However, it said an alternative was
available /config/index.html this just brings me to my hosts login page. I
don't get it, i don't have an index.html!
