Hi,
I'm the sysop user for a small intranet wiki. i often visit many pages
many times for testing and that adds to the no. of page views. How can I
tell MW not to count me for calculating page views-either based on my IP
or my username?

New extension available: [[Extension:HNP]]
Permissions (aka 'rights') are managed through a page

Installation either through SVN or PEAR channel.

I've found someone on guru.com who says they will do this for US $600,
which exceeds my budget.
Anyone interested in contributing? I realize there are many
logistical/trust/etc issues here (especially if the guy can't
deliver), so just sending out a feeler for now.

Hi MediaWiki folk,
Could anyone kindly direct me to a solution to empower MediaWiki (code /
variables / MySQL?) to show articles titles in lists sorted by numeric
value, not text value, so that [[700]] comes before [[1800]], and so
that [[1801.1]] comes AFTER [[1801]]?
Right now, after importing legacy documents, THIS is the display sort
order (example):
[[1800]]
[[1801.1]]
[[1801]]
[[700]]
Rather then the preferred (original example):
[[700]]
[[1800]]
[[1801]]
[[1801.1]]
Is this a MySQL database quirk, or something selectable in PHP, even if
requiring an enhancement? Or, has no one addressed this "sort by
numeric value, not text value" challenge yet?
As always, I've searched MediaWiki.org and the web to no avail. There's
info about adding alphabetical sort functions within lists and tables,
but nothing about sorting article name lists by numerical value instead
of the default text value.
Thanks!- Peter Blaise Monahon, USPTO/OTPC, 571-272-3950, MDE 4D68,

I am running mediawiki 1.6.9.
When I login to edit the side bar - MediaWiki:Sidebar, the "edit" tag
is not there.
When I clicked "view source" tag, the following page shows:
"This page has been locked to prevent editing;
there are a number of reasons why this may be so,
please see
<http://www.animalgenome.org:2358/wiki/mediawiki/index.php?title=Infopedia:P…>Project:Protected
page. "
but the
"<http://www.animalgenome.org:2358/wiki/mediawiki/index.php?title=Infopedia:P…>Project:Protected
page" links not to a information page but an editor box.
I didn't find any useful solutions from Google thus post here -- how
may I edit the side bar?
Thanks,
Zhiliang
When trying to upload an image to an upgraded mediawiki i get the message
Interner Fehler
Das Verzeichnis "images/public/temp/9/9f" konnte nicht angelegt werden.
Internal error
the directory "public/temp/9/9f" could not be created
On the old Mediawiki (version 1.7.1) i dont have a "images/public/"
directory. Did there change something in mediawiki ?

Considering this example at Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Categories&limit=500
...
# 1009 establishments (2 members)
# 100 BC (6 members)
...
...I'd presume that no one has addressed the "sort by
numeric value, not text value" challenge yet. Has anyone? Does anyone
have any clue as to where this sorting alternative (numeric versus text)
may be addressed? MySQL or PHP or ...? Anybody? Anybody?
Hi all,
I'm trying to upgrade my wiki from MW1.8.2 to 1.11.0, but the upgrade
script bombs out with an error, telling me one of the database tables
already exists. Am I doing something wrong? I thought the table
would've been ignored/upgraded if it already existed.
$ php update.php

Hi all,
I think I already know the answer to this, but I thought I would run
it by some people with more expierience with Mediawiki than I.
I want to create a wiki where I can create different sections that
different groups will use and assign permissions for each of the
groups.
Think departments in a company and creating different department
groups and not allow people outside of that department group to see
that department section.
>From everything I've been reading this would be sort of like page by
page permissions only with sections and while there are some page by
page extensions, there is a disclaimer on the ones that require a core
code change that Mediawiki wasn't really designed for page by page
permissions.
I guess my question is am I right in my conclusions? Has anyone had
any success implementing some of the page by page permissions
extensions whether it be the ones requiring core code changes or not?
If anyone has had experience setting up this kind of environment and
can recommend an alternative CMS, I would appreciate it as well.
Thank you,
GT
