Hello! Is there a spell-checker feature available on MediaWiki? I've
searched all over the Help documentation and cannot find one.
Thank you,

Hi,
I'm running a pretty old version, 1.3.9, and would like to upgrade to
the most current version, 1.6.6 as of now.
I'm not yet sure, but as it seems I've to do the upgrade in steps:
* upgraed to 1.4
* upgrade to 1.5
* finally upgrade to 1.6.6
Is this true or can I immidiately upgrade to 1.6.6?
For us only the articles/categories are really important. Users, etc.
are not relevant for us. We don't use any advanced stuff like templates
or similiar things and there are just some few uploads.
Is there another way to export all the MediaWiki content to a neutral
format which can be important into the latest version?
thanks,
- - Markus

Hello.
A few days ago I have upgraded from MediaWiki 1.5.8 to 1.6.7. I am
running PHP 5.2.0-dev (nighly build as of 29 June 2006, 22:30 UTC),
MySQL 4.1.13a and Apache 2.2.2 under Windows XP SP2.
Some time after upgrading, I realised that history pages were empty. The
history for the main page looks like this, with "Latest", "previous 50"
and all the records-per-page selectors linked:
---
(Latest | Earliest) View (previous 50) (next 50) (20 | 50 | 100 | 250 |
500).
Diff selection: mark the radio boxes of the versions to compare and hit
enter or the button at the bottom.
Legend: (cur) = difference with current version, (last) = difference
with preceding version, M = minor edit.
(Latest | Earliest) View (previous 50) (next 50) (20 | 50 | 100 | 250 |
500).
---
However, the database seems to be ok. Viewing diffs from Recent Changes
page, as well as the Recent Changes themselves, works as expected, and
no data seems to have been lost.
I would like to know if anyone knows how to solve that problem.
Thanks,
Eduardo
Hello to all,
a more or less simple question.
Most of the documentation of our server is located in a wiki. This
wiki is on the same server which is decribed in the wiki.
If this server is crashing for some reason the documentation how to
reinstall or re-backup the server is lost (or only available in
Database-and File-Backup).
Is there an Extension to Backup a MediaWiki-Installation as a
complete Offline-Folder or PDF-Export or something else.
I know there is wget. So i've tried
wget -mirror --http-user=MYUSER --http-passwd=MYPASSWD http://
MYDOMAIN/WIKIFOLDER/
but this is not really working for me because it dumps to much and in
a false way. Has anyone any experince with this... All this flags in
wget are driving me nuts...
Thanks a lot.
Best regards
Carsten Marx

:-).. I hear you... wiki.mozilla.org looks great ( web 1.0 with rounded boxes ) how do I go about creating something like that? Does it require writing my own style sheet? Or are there ones out there that I can use / modify..
Thanks much,
AJ

wiki.mozilla.org ? (BTW, I don't think that web 2.0 should be considered as web1.0-with-rounded-boxes )

Hi,
Has anyone worked on a Web 2.0 looking interface for MediaWiki?
Something which has round edged boxes, shadows etc? Also is there anyway
I can purge existing revisions on mediawiki?
Thanks,
AJ
Hi,
Is there a way to combine category and template searches - i.e. to display a category page but filtered by namespace?
Alternatively can I combine categories, so e.g. display a page which shows all articles in both Category:Cat1 *and* Category:cat2?
If this doesn't exist where's the best starting point (in the source) to create it - a special page?

I noticed that the ajax search has a typo in brazilian portuguese and
some of the messages are in portuguese that is spoken in Portugal (not
the variant spoken in Brazil). How should I proceed to send the user
interface translation corrections?
thanks,
