Do default installations of mediawiki 1.7 or 1.8 automatically purge the
recentchanges table, and if so, on what basis, or are change logs kept
indefinitely?
Hello,
I am using the latest mediawiki with a postgresql backend. If I have an
existing wiki in the db and want to create a second one, how do I go about
doing that? I was told to specifiy a different table prefix in the web setup.
However, I do not see a place to enter a table prefix. I do see a place to
specify different schemas. So, do I just make sure the schema names are
different for each wiki?
I also did something stupid. I created a first wiki and filled it out with
lots of pages. Then I thought I'd create a second wiki. I set the tsearch
schema to 'public' which was the same schema the first wiki used. This must
have overwritten the tables in public. Now I can't access the first wiki. Any
ideas on what I can do to access the first wiki? Or, do I need to recreate
the first wiki?
Thanks,
Tom
There's supposed to be a setting (for LocalSettings.php ... I think)
that allows the IP number of non-logged in visitors to not be shown
in the upper right-hand corner along with "Login". I can't remember
what it is though. Could someone help by reminding me?
Thanks!

I'm getting this error when I post to my wiki:
Database error
A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug
in the software. The last attempted database query was:
(SQL query hidden)
from within function "LinksUpdate::getExistingInterlangs". MySQL
returned error "1146: Table 'jimphelps_wiki.langlinks' doesn't exist
(mysql.jimphelps.info)".
The post is successful. I see the changes in my wiki but I always
get this error page.
Anyone seen this before?
Jim

You can use maintenance\deleteBatch.php which accepts a file where each
line is a page title, including the namespace prefix, to delete. To
create the list you will need write the required SQL; do you need some
hints on this? You can use MySQL Query Browser tool to export the
results to a text file, though you will need to format the file to be
suitable for deleteBatch.php. For example MySQL Query Browser 1.1.20
will output the following:
"page_title","page_id"
"Announcements",28650
"Contribute",28649
"Features",28740
"Highest_rated_pages",28700
"Main_Page",1
from the query: select page_title from pages where page_namespace=0
you will want to format it to:
Announcements
Contribute
Features
Highest_rated_pages
Main_Page
You can use: sed -e "1,1d" -e "/^$/d" -e "s/\"//g" -e "s/,[0-9]*//"
to achieve this. I have not investigated if you can export the results
from the mysql cmd prompt and avoid having the extra step with sed.

I dont't have a MediWiki installation by the hand. Just search
"includes/DefaultSettings.php".
