hi there
i'm new to mediawiki and i've come around to ask you guys some questions.
1. escape syntax for html
========================
I would like to integrate an button(link) as an image (like a main site
with graphical navigations buttons). The REDIRCT link doesnt' works for
me 'coz it shows always the graphic (button) on the top of the
redirected site (normaly i agree i great function). So I told about a
escape sequenz, that I can integrat <a> and <img> tags. is this exist?
just to edition the parse.php file and to remove the check for "not
allowed" html-tags wouldn't help 'coz I just want to use this function
on some mainsites.. normal-user should not be aviable to integrate such
html-tags.
2. Spezial:Allmessages
========================
I installed the MediaWiki: 1.5beta4, # PHP: 5.0.3 (cgi), # MySQL:
4.1.10a and recive the following errormessage if I call the:
http://news.heavy.ch/index.php?title=Spezial:Allmessages
everything else seems to work fine.
-- Logmessage --
Warning: array_merge() [function.array-merge.html]: Argument #2 is not
an array in
/home/heavych/public_html/news/includes/SpecialAllmessages.php on line 31
Warning: ksort() expects parameter 1 to be array, null given in
/home/heavych/public_html/news/includes/SpecialAllmessages.php on line 32
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in
/home/heavych/public_html/news/includes/SpecialAllmessages.php on line 36
-- END Logmessage --
So is this a bug in the mediawiki or it has to do with some data that
maybe I included in some fields?
thx for any replies.
Marcel
Is there a way to find out who is watching a page?
I'm running beta3, and have this is my LocalSettings.php:
/** Show watching users in recent changes, watchlist and page history views */
$wgRCShowWatchingUsers = true; # UPO
/** Show watching users in Page views */
$wgPageShowWatchingUsers = true;
The change I see after setting these values is the number of watching
users on the article itself, in the footer, like:
[4 watching user/s]
I get the same info displayed on the RecentChanges and Watchlist page,
now that I have my preferences set to show it.
But I'm not seeing a way to view the list of individual users watching
a page. Can mediawiki do this?
Thanks!

Adding from a search isn't recommended because then you have single pages in the twilight zone where the only way to reach them is to search (and not through another page).
If you really want to do it, see http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_FAQ#How_do_I_show_a_link_to_create…

We installed the MediWiki software on a Solaris server. The install went
fine. We started to customize it minimally (We changed the flower graphic).
Then tried to use it.
The database is working. It took modifications of existing pages. If I put a
link into an existing page to build a new item or category, it takes it.
What it¹s NOT doing is allowing a user to add from a search. They search
for a baseball player (It¹s a sports wiki) and it comes back under special
with suggestions for the search, but no offer to allow the end-user to add
the person to the wiki themselves.
What is turned off? Needs turned on? I¹ve been through docs for hours and
haven¹t found this specific problem mentioned yet.

Getting this on edits to the Community Portal page or on searches with

I just tried that. And it almost worked.
On my category page, there is some text at the top before the category listing.
When I go right to the category list via
http://mydomain.com/index.php?title=Category:Licenses it shows the category
listing exactly as it should. Introductory text at the top and alphabetized
listing below.
But when I go http://mydomain.com/index.php?title=Main_Page and I get redirected
to the Category listing, I only see the text at the top and not the alphabetized
listing of all the categories/subcategories. How can I get the alphabetized
listing to show up the right way when redirected from the Main Page?
I've managed to use user styles editing User:UserName/myskin.css at
en.wikipedia.org, but cannot make it work in any of my own wikis. Is
there any variable I am supposed to set to enable css based user styles?
Can someone help me?
