Heya all, everything appeared to go well on the web-install, however no
LocalSettings.php was created in /config.
So I thought I'd reload the page, on the thought that I had interrupted
it (although I didn't notice the page still (loading).
At any rate, this is what I got:
* PHP 4.3.6 ok
* PHP server API is cgi; using ugly URLs (index.php?title=Page_Title)
* Have zlib support; enabling output compression.
* Found GD graphics library built-in, image thumbnailing will be
enabled if you enable uploads.
* Installation directory: /homepages/22/d94944393/htdocs/yeago.net/wiki
* Script URI path: /wiki
* MySQL error 1045: Access denied for user:
'root(a)infong223.kundenserver.de' (Using password: NO)
* Trying regular user... ok.
* Connected to database... 4.0.17-standard-log; enabling MySQL 4
enhancements
* Database db95048066 exists
* There are already MediaWiki tables in this database. Checking if
updates are needed...
Updating ipblocks table... Query "ALTER TABLE ipblocks ADD ipb_auto
tinyint(1) NOT NULL default '0', ADD ipb_id int(8) NOT NULL
auto_increment, ADD PRIMARY KEY (ipb_id)" failed with error code "Table
'db95048066.ipblocks' doesn't exist".
So, there may be two problems:
1) LocalSettings.php not being created
2) ipblocks table not being created
Could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
-Steve
Hello,
which function or class is responsible for closing of the
Tags?
My wiki does only open the Tags but did not close them with
.
Excuse my english.
Btw. Does anybody know when the smarty Templates will officially supported.

Hi,
I got the current phase3 CVS code today and have been setting up a new
MediaWiki site. So far it's great, but I had a small question...
I noticed that in Wikipedia certain template messages that have special
background colors or other CSS styles, like
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:TotallyDisputed and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Controversial, define the CSS
style in the template itself.
It makes more sense for me to define those styles in the css template
(by editing for example the MediaWiki:Monobook.css page). The problem
I'm having is that that page only gets included when a user is
logged-in, but not for anonymous users.
The line in particular in the page source is

As you can see it's importing the main Monobook.css and the user
monobook.css at the same time. Does this sound like a bug, or is it a
known "feature"?
Thanks,
Matias
This is a *BETA RELEASE* of MediaWiki 1.3.0, after a couple weeks of
testing and tweaking on Wikipedia. Things mostly work at this point, but
installation and upgrade paths may be awkward or broken on some systems
(we don't stress the regular install/upgrade system on Wikipedia since
we do mass runs of piecemeal updates).
Please read the release notes for details of what's changed and how to
upgrade. (Beta1 was not released as a package, but was available from
CVS only. Don't worry, you didn't miss it!)
The easiest upgrade path from a 1.2 MediaWiki install is to set up the
1.3 wiki in a fresh directory, run the web-based installer, and point it
at the same database. BACK UP YOUR DATABASE FIRST! Upgrading the
database may take a while, or may fail on some systems.

Hi,
I'm hoping that someone here can help me solve a frustrating problem. The
main page of my Wiki no longer recognizes that I'm logged in. All other
pages are fine but when I return to the main page it disallows edits and
shows 'Log in' rather than 'Log out' indicating that it doesn't realize
(only on the main page) that I've logged in.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.

Another related question: is there a way to *link* to an external file on a file system, using perhaps UNC (Universal Naming Convention), e.g. [<\\servername\sharename\path\filename> External File] or some such syntax? On some Mediawiki installations other than Wikipedia (e.g. ours) this would be extremely useful to link to non-wiki flat files (e.g. Microsoft Word).

Is there a way to display an external html or php file within a page? Or even
just insert some raw html code? the <nowiki> tag doesn't seem to work for
this.

Hi,
I want to use mediawiki for an internal documentation wiki where it
appears inside a nested frame. Unfortunately, there is always a new
window opened. I looked into the code and found that style/wikibits.js
contains such code:
/ Wikipedia JavaScript support functions
// Un-trap us from framesets
if( window.top != window ) window.top.location = window.location;
But if I comment this line, the behaviour is still the same. Is there
any other place were js code is used to avoid frames?
Thanks for help,
Thommmie
