Hi,
I'm trying to add a redirect from somedomain/wiki/ to somedomain/wiki/index.php/Main_Page . I've tried doing this by adding a line to my .htaccess file in my root directory but it doesn't work. I get an error message that says
"Redirection limit for this URL exceeded. Unable to load the requested page"
How can I make this work?
And another redirect question
After I finish editing a page I get directed to a page that has nothing but a hyperlink to the page I just edited. Is there a way to bypass this behavior?
Thanks

I'm using the MonoBook skin and would like to add and remove some entries
from the 'navigation' box on the left of the page. Where do I do this?
-Adam.
I see that $wgLinkCache->mGoodLinks or $wgLinkCache->mBadLinks seems to
give me the links from a page. how do I reference the text? I'd like the
grab the first paragraph of the page. Thanks.

I'm trying to build a wiki application for internal use. I want build a
page with an external link to a file (ie a file:// not an http:// link).
I can't find a way to do that in MediaWiki? Is it possible?
Is there some way to get MediaWiki to accept embedded HTML?

Hello,
I recently started tinkering with MediaWiki, and I have a special case
that I couldn't find a solution to on the MetaWiki:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Preventing_Access
I want to make a "HOWTOs" section on my wiki, and I want all anonymous
users to be able to read just that section, but not other sections'
pages. One method I thought would work was to create a
"Category:HOWTOs" and add pages into there, and then specify that
category be world readable:
# Pages anonymous (not-logged-in) users may see
$wgWhitelistRead = array ("Main Page", "Special:Userlogin",
"Wikipedia:Help", "Category:HOWTOs");
However this doesn't allow pages in the HOWTOs category to be seen
anonymously. I tried using a wildcard operator ' * ', but that didn't
work either.
Thanks for any help.
Hello all,
I am trying to figure out a way to include a PHP script within either
my template (under navigation) or in a wiki page.
2 thing I am trying to accomplish.
1. Parse a RSS feed from another site to display it on mine.
2. Put the latest Forum posts from my boards on the wiki main page.
Can these be accomplished? I've been pulling my hair out for 3 hours
now and haven't come up with a solution.
Thanks,
Shane
My wiki displays times incorrectly when you are not logged in, they are two
hours ahead. This is probably because the server it is hosted on is set to
GMT+2.
Is there a way to change it so it adds two hours to the value. It works
fine when you are logged in and have set your timezone.

Hi.
I've looked for an answer to this in the FAQ and also in the archives
of the mailing list.
I run a mediawiki wiki, and allow my browser to accept cookies that
store my wiki user name and password. This works fine. However, I
recently added a second wiki on the same server and now find that
every time I switch from looking at one wiki to another I have to
re-login to each wiki.
I had a quick look at my browser's cookies and it seems like the right
thing is being done for the name and password cookies (these both
contain the wiki name, making them wiki specific). But there is a
single PHPSESSID cookie which I guess is the culprit. I.e., if I look
at wiki A and then go to wiki B and log in, I get a new PHPSESSID
cookie. This, I am guessing, is then invalid when I return to wiki A.
Is that likely to be what's causing my problem? If so, what can I do
about it?
Thanks,
Terry.
In the LocalSettings.php file I just set the $wgWhitelistAccount to this:
## Variable used for who can create user accounts
$wgWhitelistAccount = array ( "sysop" => 1, "developer" => 0, "user" => 0 );
It says that sysop can create accounts, but not developer or user.

I just want a few people to be allowed to have accounts and edit pages in my
wiki. I've worked out how to only allow edit if you are loged in, but can't
work out an easy way to block account creation.

Hi all,
I'm trying to modify Mediawiki to meet our needs, but I find myself stuck
trying to find the exact SQL statement I'm looking to modify. Say I have a
page view that is looking at the article "Iteration"
URL would be: site.com/index.php?title=Iteration
Thus $wgRequest becomes "view". But which SQL statement (and where) is the
one that pulls the exact article from the database? I've tried modifying
every SQL statement I can find in the software that might be a match, but
none of them has provided me with the results I desire. I'm assuming it's
one of the SELECT statements that has something along the lines of "WHERE
cur_title = '{$t}', but I sure can't find it.
Thanks for any pointers.
Andrew
