From countless witnesses of minority language speakers, I can assure you that having an online dictionary makes a lot of sense. Wikidata may include that function but it doesn't look like an online dictionary - and that's what counts to local government, communities and funders when it comes to supporting minority languages. Populating vernacular wiktionaries is among the best services we can give the world of minority language support and development. (I'm going to give a talk on that at Leiden University end of next month.)
