** MoMA, NYC /// March 11 /// 10am-5pm
------------------------------------------------------------
Join us at the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Education and Research Building at The Museum
of Modern Art, 4 West 54th Street, on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for
an all-day communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to art and feminism.
There will be childcare, snacks, multiple trainings and panel discussions. People of all
gender identities and expressions welcomed and encouraged to attend.
This year’s edit-a-thon kicks off at 10:00 a.m. with a conversation about information
activism with writer Joanne McNeil and Data & Society Research Institute Fellow Zara
Rahman, moderated by Kimberly Drew, the social media manager for the Metropolitan Museum
of Art, creator of the Tumblr “Black Contemporary Art,” and the person behind @museummammy
on Instagram. Afternoon breakout groups will engage in focused discussions about related
issues, including intersectionality and librarianship, power structures in notability
guidelines on Wikipedia, and radical archives.

ORGANIZE AN EDIT-A-THON
Folks gather under the banner of Art+Feminism to edit Wikipedia articles year-round, not
just in March. We invite people of all gender identities and expressions, particularly
transgender and cisgender women, to gather for an all-day, communal updating of Wikipedia
entries on subjects related to art and feminism. These events generally include tutorials
for new editors, resource materials, snacks, and childcare. We’ve created an **
organizer’s kit

MEET OUR NEW PROGRAM COORDINATOR
I’m McKensie, the new Program Coordinator at Art + Feminism and resident Southern belle
and intergalactic, black girl. I was born in Chicago and welcomed into the world by a
family of butter aficionados. I’m a writer, performer, consultant and strategist with a
penchant for Baldwin and high-class meme curation. When I’m not producing content about
politics, pop culture, and race, I’m developing anti-oppressive strategies for dismantling
systems of disempowerment in cultural institutions. I enjoy twirling in my living room,
hosting shows about fun, and dabbing to 90s R & B. I’m also a sucker for homemade pie
that’s just like my Nana used to make... ** visit our Tumblr to continue reading.
