Hello everyone,

In March, the Communications team at the Wikimedia Foundation is launching a global social media campaign for Women’s History Month. The main goal of this new campaign, starting March 5, is to share the Wikimedia movement’s progress toward achieving greater gender equity, describe the challenges that remain, and to invite others to participate in working toward greater gender equity and representation in the movement.

As part of the campaign, we plan to highlight the amazing people and initiatives that contribute to greater gender equity across the movement via social media and the Wikimedia Foundation Medium account. We are also creating a webpage on the Foundation's website that will include community-created editing resources for new volunteers interested in gender equity, as well as a list of events happening around the world for Women’s History Month.

We would love to hear if you or your communities are running events or projects related to gender equity this March that we could highlight on our website and social media accounts as part of the campaign.

If you have specific events that you are planning for Women’s History Month, please email me off list with any relevant links to the event and we can make sure that we include it on our webpage.

If you are interested in having your gender equity work highlighted on social media by @Wikimedia channels, please fill out this short form detailing your efforts and any associated accounts we should tag on social media to help promote: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSchEZ_-8jCJP6E6UQguy_MjOYgoNUfSyzNhbnWU5S1D9_aenw/viewform

We will be sharing more information on how to get involved in the campaign (including a social media toolkit with draft messages, graphics, and hashtags) soon. We will also be creating a page on Meta-Wiki with more information about the campaign

We look forward to hearing from you, thank you!

Sam
