Atleast {{user $1}} is available in all languages... I can be much better than using the preferences...

Please also note that not all templates are translated on all
languages (actually translations wary by template). So we need
intelligent fallback to default template before substitution. For
example, MediaWiki:UserMessages.js can't do this.
